KINGSTON (WATE) – Students at Cherokee Middle School in Kingston learned the importance of being kind during their Random Acts of Kindness week.
The week has been filled with small acts of kindness, with students writing letters to their classmates, recognizing nice things their friends have done for them and a kindness parade Wednesday morning. Dozens of students lined up in the hallways, welcoming their classmates to school with encouraging posters.
“One kind word can go a long way. Some of our kids need that, so we’re trying to model that behavior by the service act of just being kind,” said teacher Amber Henderson.
A big part of the week was focusing on small acts of kindness to encourage students to work the random acts into their normal routines.
