KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knoxville Ice Bears are celebrating their fifth straight win, winning ten of their last 13 games.
The stands were filled for Wiener Dog Racing night as the Ice Bears brought home a 3-1 win over the Fayetteville FireAntz. However, the winner of the race, “Lillie” was not much for talking.
Brian Billet made 27 saves and Knoxville’s two power play goals gave the Ice Bears a 3-1 win over the Fayetteville FireAntz on Saturday. Brad Pawlowski scored a goal and had two assists.
Knoxville scored first when Andrew Bonazza beat Fayetteville’s Dustin Carlson low to the stick side at 9:43 of the opening period. The FireAntz responded three minutes later on the power play when Kyle Gibbons slid the puck between the pads of Brian Billet, ending a shutout streak of 164:16 for Knoxville.
Mark Pustin scored his third goal in three games for the Ice Bears, later in the first, when Pawlowski found him uncovered in the slot, and he fired a wrist shot past Carlson. Pawlowski’s redirect goal at 8:27 of the second period capped a Gordie Howe Hat-Trick after he was in a fight with Nicholas Rivait earlier in the first.
The FireAntz next host Columbus on Friday. Knoxville will play Pensacola at home on Thursday.
