2 Morgan County men plead guilty to sex offenses involving minors

WARTBURG (WATE) – Two Morgan County men pleaded guilty Wednesday in separate cases of sex offenses involving minors.

James Alsante, 40, pleaded guilty to one count of violation of the sex offender registry and one count of attempted statutory rape by an authority figure involving a 14-year-old girl. Alsante received a two-year prison sentence that will be served consecutively with a four and a half year sentence stemming from an April 2015 conviction for violation of the federal Sex Offender Registry Act.

Matthew Humfleet, 24, pleaded guilty to two coutns of statutory rape and received a three-year sentence. The charges involved two 15-year-old girls in Morgan and Loudon counties.

Both cases were handled by the office of 9th District Attorney General Russell Johnson.
