KNOXVILLE (WATE) – One in three women will experience domestic violence according to the YWCA Knoxville. The organization is working to raising awareness on the issue with a new campaign.

Advocacy Days” will provide education and training to participants on the eighth of every month beginning February 8. The campaign’s slogan is “on the 8th, we advocate.”

Normally, YWCA recognizes domestic violence in October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. “Violence against women and girls is too important a topic to discuss one month a year,” said YWCA Violence and Prevention Project Coordinator Hannah Brinson.

The campaign’s goal is to provide the Knoxville community with tools to address the concern. Participants will learn about different forms of domestic violence at the events. Topics include: dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, and more.

YWCA helps women through their Victim Advocacy Program. The program provides support by helping women obtain orders of protection, U-visas and provides the community with education events.
