Knox County Health Department offering free flu vaccinations

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knox County Health Department is offering free flu shots on Tuesday for anyone in the community while supplies last.

The move comes after the Centers for Disease Control reported that fly activity is increasing throughout the country and they received reports of severe illness.

“If you haven’t had a flu vaccine, please get one now,” said KCHD Director of Clinical Services Dr. Kelly Cooper. “We expect flu activity to increase over the next several weeks, and a vaccine is still the best protection available from this virus and its potentially serious complications. According to CDC data, the vaccine is a good match to the influenza strains currently circulating.”

The free vaccinations will be available at KCHD’s main location, 140 Dameron Avenue, the west clinic at 1028 Old Cedar Bluff Road, and Teague Clinic at 405 Dante Road. Appointments can be made by calling (865) 215-5070.
