ROCKWOOD (WATE) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said a missing 12-year-old girl from Morgan County was found safe and an Amber Alert has been cancelled.
TBI said Constance Nichole Morris was found at Walmart in Oak Ridge. Investigators say she was safe.
Neither the TBI or Morgan County Sheriff’s Office has released more information on who she was with or where she had been.
When the Amber Alert was issued, Morris, who also goes by Gabi, had last been seen Sunday at around 8:40 p.m. near Lower Rockwood Road.
Morris’ mother contacted WATE 6 On Your Side worried for the safety of her daughter.
The Amber Alert was issued overnight, and canceled before noon on Monday.
When most Amber Alerts are issued, cell phones in the area receive an automated alert. That did not happen with this Amber Alert. TBI said those automated alerts generate from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and that their equipment malfunctioned Monday morning, so no alert was sent. TBI said they are working to correct that issue.
TBI added that they have multiple ways of communicating Amber Alerts to the public in case one system fails.
