KNOXVILLE (WATE) – National Signing day is a time that can make or break a college football team. Many fans in Knoxville are saying this year’s 2016 signing class is a win.
The Tennessee Vols have the 17th ranked recruiting class this year. Ryan Kennedy, a season ticket holder, says this year’s class will only make the Vols’ better.
“Butch is an incredible recruiter, there is a bunch of incredible recruiters on that staff…That’s big for us, filled all our needs. Filled the safety need got another edge rusher opposite Barnett and Vereen,” said Kennedy.
Hemang Shah’s favorite recruit is four-star defensive end prospect Jonathan Kongbo. However, he uncommitted from the team earlier in the recruiting process.
“He recommitted to Tennessee. I think he saw where the program was going and I know it came down to the last second but the fact that he’s coming on board man that’s really great,” said Shah.
Chloe Teague received recruiting updates all day on her phone.
“I’m so excited, I’ve been following it all on social media today and I don’t know we’re just going to be so raw,” she said.
But with this excitement comes some pretty big expectations.
“I expect to be in the playoff but we’ll see and hopefully we’ll win the SEC east that’s the goal. I think that’s what they’re for themselves and I’ll think they’ll be able to get there,” said Kennedy.
