Tennessee football starts strong on National Signing Day

University of Tennessee football projected to finish strong with National Signing Day 2016 recruiting class.

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – National Signing Day is upon us. On Wednesday, high school players from around the country will sign their National Letters of Intent.

The Volunteers have already secured several commits, but head coach Butch Jones still has a couple of loose ends that decision of several top prospects impacting how this year’s class is perceived nationally. Depending on how the day finishes up, Tennessee could finish with one of the nation’s top 15 recruiting classes in the nation.

Tight end Devante Brooks officially signed with Tennessee.

An unexpected last-minute signee, Latrell Williams signed on to Tennessee. Williams is the second Miami commit Tennessee has been able to flip.

Three star wide-receiver Corey Henderson also officially announced he was signing with Tennessee.

Knoxville native and Webb School senior Andrew Craig also signed on with Tennessee as a preferred walk-on.



9:30 a.m.

Naples High School running back Carlin Fils-Aime landed has officially committed to Tennessee. The Naples High School player is one of the top running backs in the South. Coaches hope Fil-Aime will fill a big hole in the 2016 class and add a key offensive weapons to the backfield. Read more.


9:00 a.m

The future of Tennesseeโ€™s offensive front just got a major boost. Marcus Tatum officially signed with the Volunteers. The Volunteers held off Florida and Miami to land Tatum. Learn more about the Mainland High School offensive tackle.


8:40 a.m.

Tennessee picked up five more signees with 5-star safety Nigel Warrior, offensive tackle Nathan Niehaus offensive lineman Ryan Johnson, 3-star cornerback Baylen Buchanan and quarterback Jarret Guarantano signing with Tennessee.

Guarantano is the top quarterback in the East Regionโ€™s 2016 class and the number three prospect the country and a big get for Tennessee.
