KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The American Heritage School wide receiver made a verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee in September. Brandon Johnson passed on offers from Georgia, Louisiana, Miami and South Carolina to play at Tennessee.
Johnson is the son of former MLB catcher Charles Johnson and his cousin is former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson, who made six Pro Bowls. He’s grown up in a house full of professional athletes and has a business-like approach to sports.
WATE 6 Sports analyst Danny Parker said the four star recruit has a versatile set of skills. “He brings to the table that understanding between a quarterback and a wide-receiver and what they need to do on a specific play, you know, getting open and he’s not the kind of guy that is going to have five catches for 206 yards in a game, but he may have five catches for 90 yards and move the change in several situations,” said Parker.
