GATLINBURG (WATE) – Newly released documents in the case of three boys believed to have assaulted a 15-year-old classmate while staying at a cabin in Gatlinburg reveal disturbing new details.
The Gatlinburg Police Department charged three Ooltewah High School basketball players with aggravated rape and aggravated assault after a hazing incident in December. The superintendent of Hamilton County Schools announced Wednesday the rest of the boys’ basketball season is canceled.
Sevier County Juvenile Court allowed WATE 6 On Your Side on Friday to look at some of the paperwork involved in this case. The names were redacted and a bailiff stood by during the viewing.
The documents outline that the assault happened December 22 around 8:30 pm. A 17-year-old 12th grade student at Ooltewah High School is accused of raping the underclassman with a pool cue stick. The 15-year-old’s injuries required surgery to repair internal damage.
“Two (2) other juveniles assisted in holding the victim down on the bed inside a bedroom at the cabin,” read the documents, which also stated the cabin is located at 508 Laurel Mountain Road.
Those juveniles are both 16-year-old boys and charged with aggravated rape as well.

All three boys have attorneys. WATE 6 On Your Side was able to contact one of the attorneys who says he cannot comment who says because they’re juveniles.
The school does not believe any of the adults staying at the cabin did anything wrong. The team was staying in Gatlinburg for a basketball tournament.
A tentative court date has been set for January 26 at 8:30 a.m. at juvenile court in Sevier County.
