GATLINBURG (WATE) – Ober Gatlinburg is asking people to join them Friday as they take part in a national effort to set the world record for most people learning to ski and snowboard at the same time.
Ober will host a beginner lesson for both interested skiers and snowboarders at 10 a.m. Friday as part of the event. If you already ski or snowboard, they are asking people to let beginner friends and family know so they can take part in the event.
A total of 160 venues around the country are taking part in the attempt to set both the Guinness World Record for largest multi-venue ski and multi-venue snowboard lesson. The lessons will cost $19 per person which does not include rental equipment or lift tickets.
Ski slopes opened for the season earlier this week after a delay due to unseasonably warm temperatures.
