Things we’d like to forget about 2015: The ‘Whip Nae Nae’ song and dance

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) –  It’s already 2016 in some parts of the world. However, 2015 left a lot of odd moments to remember, or perhaps things people would like to forget.

Things like the crazy YouTube video of a dad tricking his wife into thinking their son was on an exploding four wheeler. Or maybe we’d like to forge the popularity the man bun.

On New Year’s Eve, we set out to find out what people in the Bay Area want to banish in the coming year. Some people admitted they “haven’t really thought that far.”

Others have given it a lot of thought. “The stock market performance,” said Jack Mooney, visiting from Seattle.

Stephen Clark in town from Tennessee said “The direction the country is going,” is what he would like to leave behind.

But the most overwhelming response 8 On Your Side received was about a popular song.

“What is that, the ‘Whip Nae Nae? Yes, the Whip and Nae Nae,” said Jodi Clark. “If our kids do that dance one more time.”

The Whip Nae Nae is a wildly popular song and dance by a young singer named Silento that’s actually titled ‘Watch Me’. It seems this year everyone from morning news teams, to dads, and daughters, to Bugs Bunny have danced and videotaped, the ‘Whip Nae Nae.’

Now people want the Whip Nae Nae, to be more like the whip no no.

“Yeah, I’m tired of that song.”
