KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Kevin Punter scored 24 points as Tennessee defeated Florida Atlantic 81-62 on Wednesday night to snap a three-game skid.
Tennessee (5-4) was playing its first home game since a 95-80 victory over Navy on Nov. 24. The Volunteers are 5-0 at home and 0-4 away from Thompson-Boling Arena.
Punter scored 15 points after halftime and exceeded the 20-point mark for the sixth straight game. He scored 11 straight Tennessee points and outscored Florida Atlantic’s entire team 11-2 during a stretch lasting just over two minutes that helped the Volunteers break the game open in the second half.
Armani Moore added 16 points and Devon Baulkman had 11 points for Tennessee.
Solomon Poole scored 10 points to lead Florida Atlantic (2-8), which has lost five of its last six games.
Florida Atlantic was playing a road game for the second straight night. The Owls lost 80-73 on Tuesday at Eastern Kentucky.
