Family mourns death of Knox County 11-year-old who started #EthanStrong campaign

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Ethan Parsley inspired thousands of people from around the country to never give up.

The 11-year-old Knoxville boy was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called Metastic Ewing Sarcoma late in 2014. Wednesday a post the Facebook page We are #EthanStrong said after courageously fighting for a little over a year, Ethan passed away in the early hours of the morning surrounded by family.

“We will post arrangements as soon as possible. For now, we will be focused on Logan and helping him to comprehend the loss of his brother and best friend. Prayers for him would be much appreciated,” was written on the #EthanStrong Facebook page. Many people who responded to the post said they only knew about Ethan through social media, but his family has shown them what strength, courage and faith in God looks like.

In April Amherst Elementary School raised $1,800 to help is family with medical expenses.
