KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knox County Sheriff’s Office has a new special deputy.

Elijah James, 4, was born with a severe form of spina bifida. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office honored the boy on Thursday. Sheriff Jimmy “J.J.” Jones even posed with him for photographs which the sheriff’s office posted on its Facebook page.

The community rallied around the James family last year by raising money for a power wheelchair. The community then even built a ramp on the James house to make it wheelchair accessible.
