KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A section of Deane Hill Drive in West Knoxville is closed Wednesday afternoon due to an underground drainage pipe collapse.
Motorists are advised to avoid the section of the road between Cheshire Drive and Morrell Road except local residents. City officials say work to repair the pipe and a sunken section of road will continue for several days.
Westbound motorists can turn right onto Cheshire Drive to access Kingston Pike and then Morrell Road before picking up Deane Hill Drive again on the other side of the collapse, However, city officials say there is no good detour route for eastbound through traffic.
The city’s Deane Hill Recreation Center, 7400 Deane Hill Drive, remains open and can be accessed from Morrell Road.
