Public mass shootings reported in 2015

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Data from Mother Jones shows four mass shootings through November 2, 2015, an increase from 2014.

Mother Jones defines a public mass shooting as a lone shooter who took the lives of at least four people in a public place. If the shooter died, he or she is not included in the count. Crimes primarily related to gang activity, armed robbery, or domestic violence in homes are not included in the data.

Two such shootings were reported in 2014. The all-time high, according to the data, was seven shootings reported in 2012.
