Knoxville Fire Department put out flames at one of its own buildings

Investigators say the fire started on the bottom floor of the building located at 203 Locust Street, near Broadway and Summit Hill Drive, around 11:30 p.m.

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knoxville Fire Department was dispatched to a building fire on Tuesday night. When they arrived, they realized it was one of their own buildings up on flames.

Investigators say the fire started on the bottom floor of the building located at 203 Locust Street, near Broadway and Summit Hill Drive, around 11:30 p.m.

The two-story building was built in 1965 and was used for the fire department’s radio technician officer and storage.

 

The building was unoccupied when the fire broke out, firefighters said.

Investigators are unsure of the cause of the fire at this time.
