Crash and officer-involved shooting injures two in Central Kentucky

LAWRENCEBURG, Ky. (AP) – Authorities say a police officer has shot and wounded a suspect after a car pursuit that ended in a head-on crash in central Kentucky.

Kentucky State Police say the suspect was shot once after displaying a gun.

Officials say a Lawrenceburg police officer was attempting to stop a Chevrolet pickup truck Friday morning on U.S. Highway 127. The vehicle fled, and got on to Kentucky 62, leading police in a 10-mile pursuit. At one point, the truck crossed into oncoming traffic, striking another pickup truck head-on.

As officers approached the crashed truck, state police say the suspect showed a handgun, and was shot once.

The suspect and the driver of the other truck were airlifted to a hospital. State police say in a release their conditions were not immediately known.
