KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Members of the Knoxville community came together Friday night to honor a man shot and killed by two teenagers.
The two teens are being charged with felony murder for the death of Gmetrik Caldwell, but Friday night about 100 people attended a candlelight vigil for the man. Organizers said they joined together to peacefully pray, celebrate the memory of Caldwell and support his family.
“This is actually one of the things that is hard on our community. We consistently see our young men going through different things like this and it is hard on us because we are really trying to change the atmosphere and trying to bring people together in every way we can. Sad that it takes something like this to bring people together on one accord,” said Pastor Ed King.
