838 sicked in 38 states due to salmonella outbreak in cucumbers, none in Tennessee

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Centers for Disease Control and prevention are now saying 838 people have been sickened due to a recent salmonella outbreak found in cucumbers.

The CDC says this is 71 more people than the last report, which was issued a little more than a month ago, and the outbreak has been found in 38 states.

Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina, West Virginia, Michigan, New Jersey, Delaware, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine have not had any reported cases of the outbreak.

Four people have died in relation to the outbreak, and another 161 have been hospitalized.

Two separate recalls have been issued for cucumbers out of Mexico.
