KYLES FORD (WATE) – The new bridge on State Route 70 that crosses the Clinch River in Hancock County has been completed.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Thursday in the Kyles Ford community to celebrate this milestone. The project has been four years in the making.
Hancock County has three bridges that cross the Clinch River, one of which has been closed for two years.
“We have people traveling from West Virginia into Hawkins County for work. They drive through here every day. It would’ve taken them an extra hour or an hour and a half to school or work,” said Hancock County Mayor Thomas Harrison.
TDOT Commissioner John Schroer and other state and local officials also attended the ribbon cutting.
