KNOXVILLE (WATE) — It appears Tennessee wide receiver Von Pearson is saving his best for last this season.
In his last two games Pearson, who is in his second season at Tennessee recorded 13 receptions. Prior to those two games Pearson had just 10 receptions in seven games.
“I think he’s worked really, really hard to put himself in these situations and opportunities to make these catches and he’s been able to do that,” said Tennessee head coach Butch Jones.
Pearson had career-highs in receptions (8) and receiving yards (121) in Tennessee’s win over South Carolina last Saturday. He also made his first trip to the end zone this season.
“We’ve needed that. We’ve needed a spark from him and from that group, and I think that’s really helped us,” added Jones.
The Vols will host North Texas on Saturday. The Mean Green are just 1-8 this season and allow 286.9 passing yards per game, which is 117th in the country.
