Man shot at Pigeon Forge campground

PIGEON FORGE (WATE) – A Sevierville man was taken to the hospital Wednesday night after police say he was shot at a campground in Pigeon Forge.

When police arrived to Shady Oaks Campground, 210 Conner Heights Road, around 8:30 p.m., Tony Thompson, 41, had already been taken to LeConte Medical Center by private vehicle.

He was then flown by Lifestar helicopter to UT Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He is listed in serious condition as of Thursday afternoon.

No other information has been released at this time. The Pigeon Forge Police Department says it is investigating.
