OAK RIDGE (WATE) – The city of Oak Ridge will conduct a city-wide full participation exercise of the emergency management system and emergency operations center on Thursday.
The exercise will begin at 11:15 a.m. at the fire department headquarters, 200 South Tulane Avenue, and will end at 3:45 p.m.
This is the first time the city has conducted an exercise with a large group to manage a disaster.
The drill is planned and administered by 10 instructors from across the United States and former FEMA emergency managers and trainers.
All city departments will be represented in the drill with representatives from TEMA, Anderson County Health Department, American Red Cross, Civil Air Patrol, Oak Ridge school administration, Methodist Medical Center, the Department of Energy and the city manager office.
The lead instructor is Phil McLaughlin. He is the retired deputy commissioner of the Philadelphia fire department.
