Oak Ridge advances while Clinton falls in 5A playoffs

OAK RIDGE (WATE)- The Oak Ridge Wildcats beat Soddy Daisy in the first round of the 5A State Playoffs on Thursday night 45-33.

The Wildcats struck first on a bomb from quarterback Jordan Dunbar to Tennessee commit Tee Higgins. Higgins would score again on a short touchdown run to give the Wildcats a 21-7 lead going into the half.

Meanwhile, 4-7 Clinton traveled to 9-2 Ooltewah looking for their first post season win since 2009. But, the Dragons came up short falling to the Owls 40-21.

The Owls host Oak Ridge next Friday in the second round of the 5A playoffs.
