Police Chief Fred Fletcher told WTVC there were no reports of a shooter, person hurt or threat to the area. He said police respond to a “shots fired” call fairly routinely and it could be a number of things, including a car backfiring.
“We have no reports of anyone being harmed, we have no reports of anyone trying to harm anyone. What we have is a report of a gun shot. Our officers are investigating that more right now,” Fletcher said.
Chattanooga State University was put on lock-down as a precaution.
