NASHVILLE (WATE) – From the red carpet dresses, to the stars and their hit country performances the 49th annual Country Music Association awards was a night both artists and fans will remember.
Country music’s biggest night brought the genre’s greatest all together under one roof. The past year showcased many new artists who brought us big songs, like the group who’s topping the charts with their current number one hit – “Break Up With Him.”
“We’re floating above the red carpet. We’re not walking on it,” said members of Old Dominion.
While Old Dominion floated, LoCash moonwalked. Another familiar face making her CMA red carpet debut was hometown girl Kelsea Ballerini.
“I sat in section 204 of the audience last year so I’m sitting in the third row this year. So it feels so good to be included and embraced this early on by country music and the CMA, which is the epitome of country music” she said.
Chris Janson gave Knoxville a shout out, as he heads back to town to perform Friday.
“I’m thankful to drive through Knoxville and hear my song on the radio,” he said.
Kacey Musgraves stunned and is no stranger to number ones.
“Album really means a lot to me because I pour my heart into it and to be recognized for a body of work you get to create is something I’m proud of,” she said.
Country music’s power couple, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, nearly closed down the red carpet as everyone made it their mission to talk to the legend.
“Last year I was more nervous because I was presenting entertainer of the year. This year it’s date night for us. Neither of us performing so we can sit back and watch the movie,” said Brooks.
