ALCOA (WATE) – A Seymour man was killed and three others injured in a crash on Sam Houston Road in Alcoa on Saturday afternoon.
Roger A. Penwell, 48 was pronounced dead at the scene after a Ford Expedition crashed head-on with his Mercury Grand Marquis.
According to the preliminary investigation by Aloca police, the driver of the Expedition, Brian L. Hembree, 34, of Walland, crossed over the center line causing the crash.
Penwell was not alone in the vehicle. Jennifer Penwell, 47, and J.W. Penwell, 23, both of Seymour, were flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center by Lifestar.
Hembree was taken by officers to Blount Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries and for a toxicology screening.
Officers say all occupants were wearing seat belts.
Aloca firefighters, Rural/Metro Ambulance Service paramedics, Blount County deputies and the Blount County Rescue Squad assisted at the scene of the crash.
