KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A freshman University of Tennessee football player is expected in court Thursday on DUI charges.

Charles DeAngelo Mosley, 18, was charged with a first offense driving under the influence in July. A Knox County Sheriff’s deputy said they pulled him over on Interstate 40 for going 79 mph in a 55 mph zone.
When the deputy walked up to the vehicle they noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the cab. Mosley told officers he was going back to campus from the Econo Lodge on Lovell Road and he wasn’t smoking marijuana, but his friends at the Econo Lodge were.
After searching the vehicle, deputies found marijuana residue in the front passenger area and back seat. Mosley was transported to a Knox County Detention facility to have his blood drawn.
