Blount County Meals on Wheels asking for help ahead of holiday season

MARYVILLE (WATE) – Smoky Mountain Meals on Wheels is asking for donations and volunteers to help deliver mail during the holiday season.

“As the holidays approach closer, it becomes more of a concern if we are really going to be able to pull this off this year,” said Senior Nutrition Program Director Lynnda Manville of Blount County Community Action Agency, which runs the program.

The program has 36 home delivered meal routes, covering 567 square miles and serving 540 clients a month. They serve around 8,200 meals per month to homebound seniors in Blount County. All means are homemade in-house and delivered by 165 active volunteers.

If you are interested in donating, contact (865) 983-8411 ext. 25 or go online to www.blountcaa.org.
