KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Two pimps were arrested in East Tennessee last week as part of a nationwide law enforcement operation against human trafficking.
More than 500 law enforcement agencies took part in Operation Cross Country. The FBI worked with local and state law enforcement partners in 135 cities, including Knoxville and Chattanooga.
Nationally, 149 children were recovered, the youngest being 12 years old, and 153 pimps were arrested. Two of the pimps were arrested in East Tennessee.
This is the ninth year the operation has taken place. In all, 755 children have been recovered and 1,015 pimps arrested.
