Jones says he can turn out one of these homes, with custom requests, in about two weeks. So far he’s done lots of labor and very little marketing.

“The tiny house community is very big,” Jones explained. “It’s a tight knit community. They are finding me in all different venues.”

Jones says after he sold the Hobbit House, he made just one tiny home and posted it on an online site. Within just 24 hours, it caught a lot of attention.

“I look at my phone and it is blowing up,” he said laughing. “Twelve, 14, 20, 26 emails! ”

He is currently building a home for someone in the Chicago area and has orders for several more. He says the big difference between his work and other contractors is cost. Most of his homes are below $30,000.
