Pilot dies after crash during air show

ONEIDA (WATE) – The pilot of a Tennessee air show died Saturday afternoon.

Jay “Flash” Gordon’s aircraft crashed at the Wings Over Big South Fork Air Show in Oneida.The crash was reported at around 4:30 p.m. at the Scott County Municipal Airport. Local authorities said only a pilot was on board the plane. Gordon was the only person on board the single-engine plane. He was a longtime performer in the Thunder Over Louisville air show.

Officials with the FAA releasing the following statement:

“An L-39 Albatros, fixed wing, single-engine aircraft crashed at 4:30 p.m while participating in an airshow at Scott Municipal Airport in Oneida, TN. Only the pilot was on board. Local authorities will release the name and condition, the FAA will release the aircraft registration after that. The FAA is investigating. The NTSB will determine probable cause”.
