PIGEON FORGE (WATE) – The Comedy Barn Theater in Pigeon Forge will be hosting the third annual Kickin’ Chicken 5KRun and Fun Walk on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 8 a.m.
All of the net proceeds will benefit The Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center that provides comprehensive, coordinated and compassionate services to victims of child abuse.
The race will be a single loop race that will begin and end at The Comedy Barn Theater. The route goes through the Island and returns down the Riverwalk Greenway.
Forms can be picked up from The Comedy Barn Theater or people can register online. They can also register the morning of the race beginning at 6:30 a.m.

There is also an option to make an entry fee donation and not physically participate in the race: check the virtual category and The Comedy Barn race team will mail them a t-shirt.
The registration cost is $20 for adults and $15 for children (17 and under.)
After Aug. 24 the cost goes up to $25 for adults and $20 for children (17 and under). Packet pickup will be at The Comedy Barn Theater Sept. 4 from noon to 10:30 p.m or they can be picked up the morning of the race.
The t-shirts are heavy weight cotton short sleeve. In order to be guaranteed a race shirt, registration must be received by 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, 2015.
Awards: Top male and female Overall, Master, Grandmaster, and Veteran Finisher. Awards three deep to M/F finishers in all age groups 1-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80+ (overall winners not eligible).
There will be a silent auction with items from local retailers and attractions at the race. There will be large prizes that will include attractions, lodging and dining packages. There will also be door prizes, and there will be refreshments furnished after the race. This event is part of “The Run and See Tennessee Grand Prix Series” http://www.totalracesolutions.com. Winners in each age division will receive medals and tickets to The Comedy Barn.
Runner Todd Caldwell of Sevierville, won the third annual Comedy Barn Theater Kickin’ Chicken 5K Run and one Mile Fun Walk, finishing the course in first place as the male open winner in (18:06:06). Caldwell was the winner of the first-ever Comedy Barn Theater Kickin’ Chicken 5K Run in 2013 and came in second place at the event last year.
The overall second place winner was Zachary Collins of Rockwood, Tenn. (19:43:55), and the overall third place winner was Justin Kita of Erie, Penn., (20:10:92).
Michelle Childs of Knoxville, was the female open winner (20:39:38), Jeannie MacHon of Shawnee, Kansas, was the female master winner (24:45:26), and Nathan Abercrombie of Gainesville, Georgia, was the male master winner (21:03:69).
Atress McBee of Oak Ridge, was the female grandmaster winner (28:15:93) and Timothy Rutherford of Knoxville, was the male grandmaster winner (21:34:64). Lynn Cartee of Gatlinburg, was the female veteran winner (35:26:45) and James Brown of Maryville, was the male veteran winner (22:24:52).
A total of 226 people finished the race sponsored by The Comedy Barn Theater (172 of which were runners), to benefit Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center.
