GATLINBURG (WATE) – A trailer has been released and a special screening held for a locally-produced movie based on the life of Regen Morris, a Sevier County boy whose battle with cancer inspired the community.
The film, now titled simply “Regen,” is produced by Christian-based film company JC Productions. In just 12 short years, Regen Morris touched countless lives. Regen lost a long battle with brain cancer Christmas morning in 2013.

WATE 6 On Your Side covered Regan’s story and the “Rootin’ for Regen” movement from his first days after diagnosis, to the end of his journey.
The film stars Kara O’Bryon and Tim Ross as Regen’s parents, newcomer Kole Benfield as Regen, and veteran Hollywood actor David Keith as one of Regen’s doctors.
A special charity screening was held on Thursday, November 5 at 6 p.m. at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. The event was emceed by WATE 6 On Your Side anchor Lori Tucker.
