Driver receives citations after hitting side of Knox County school bus, minor injuries reported

According to the initial investigation, the driver pulled out in front of school bus 147 on the intersection of Stair Drive and Henegar Road in Corryton smashing into it's side. The bus was headed to Holston Middle.

CORRYTON (WATE) – Minor injuries were reported when a driver collided with a school bus on Friday morning, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

According to the initial investigation, the driver pulled out in front of school bus 147 on the intersection of Stair Road and Henegar Road in Corryton smashing into it’s side. The bus was headed to Holston Middle.

A total of six students were injured; one of them transported to the hospital by Rural/Metro, police said. The others were taken by their parents. Injuries include bumped knees and wrists.

The driver of the car has been cited for driving without a license, no insurance and failure to yield.

Forty-two students were on the bus at the time of the crash. They were sitting two to a seat. The bus had to be towed and another bus was brought in to transport the children to school.
