Crews worked to release man trapped under train in downtown Knoxville

KNOXVILLE (WATE) РCrews worked to free a man trapped under a train in downtown Knoxville early Friday morning.

Around 4 a.m. officers with the Knoxville Police Department responded to a call of a man hit by a train at Norfolk Southern’s West yard, located near Cooper Street and Depot Avenue.

The man, later identified as 60-year-old Albert Eason of Knoxville, was sitting on the tracks, but did not get up when he saw the train approaching, police said.

Eason was struck on his right leg and pinned under the train.

He was released and transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment of a serious injury.

Eason was issued citations from public intoxication and trespassing.
