KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Several events are planned in Knoxville this weekend that will also lead to some road closures.
The Gathering, a local craft show, is being held in the Jacob Building at Chilhowee Park from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The craft show will feature primitives and antiques, with a focus on seasonal and gardening decorations.
Sole of Hip Hop Music Festival, to be held in the Homer Hamilton Amphitheater at Chilhowee Park, will showcase hip hop artists such as Wave Chapelle, Cyhi The Prynce and several up-and-coming artists while also highlighting the newest sneaker and clothing trends. The music festival runs from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday.
The entire family can have fun at the second annual BLANKfest, a festival to celebrate the city’s rich entertainment culture, which will happen on Market Square. The event is presented by BLANK Newspaper and scruffycity.com. The event will benefit Knoxville-based non-profit agency Positively Living.
Nearly 20 acts will perform on three stages beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday and lasting until 10 p.m. Poet/emcee/Knoxville ambassador Zachary Fallon will also present local comedians, improv artists and burlesque at Cocoa Moon.
The full list of performers includes: Barstool Romeos, Black Cadillacs, Brent Thompson & the Wandering, David Mayfield Parade, Gamenight, Guy Marshall, J.C. and the Dirty Smokers, Johnny Astro and the Big Bang, Justin Kalk Orchestra, LiL iFFy, Lilly Hiatt, Madre, Mic Harrison and the High Score, Mr. ILL & the Medicine, Three Star Revival, Tim Lee 3, William Wild and the BLANKfest King Super Jam.
As a result, Market Street between Clinch Avenue and Union Avenue will be closed from 4 to 11 p.m., as will Union Avenue between Walnut Street and Gay Street.
UT Medical Center is hosting its seventh annual The Man Run, presented by Regal Entertainment Group, to benefit prostate cancer research, outreach and educational programs.

The Knoxville Track Club’s Youth Greenway Series at Tyson Park begins at 8 a.m. Saturday. It’s geared specifically for local children 12 and under in an effort to encourage the joys and benefits of running on local greenways. The Market Square Farmers’ Market will also be open. Closures for the market include Market Street between Clinch Avenue and Union Avenue and Union Avenue between Walnut Street and Gay Street from 6:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Temporary no-parking zones will be in effect on Market Street and Union Avenue starting at 5 a.m.
