Owners encouraged to check pets’ microchips, registration

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Animal shelters around the country are encouraging pet owners to make sure their animals are microchipped and the registration information is accurate.

Saturday, August 15, is National Check Your Chip Day. Young-Williams Animal Center says microchips greatly increase the chances that you’ll get your pet back if it is lost or stolen.

The center offers microchipping at its Division Street location each Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for $20.
