Knox and Blount counties hold high school football jamborees


KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Local teams had their final chance Friday night to hone their attacks before the season, one quarter at a time. Both Knox and Blount counties held their final jamborees at West and Alcoa high schools, respectively.

The first quarter in Knox County pitted Karns against Webb with the Spartans getting a 7-6 win despite a late touchdown by the Beavers.

The second quarter saw Hardin Valley drive the ball on Farragut early but Jack Devault intercepted the Hawks in the end zone and returned it for a touchdown and a 7-0 Farragut lead. The Admirals went on to win 14-0.

In the third quarter, defending 4-A state champion Fulton took down South-Doyle, 7-0.

In the fourth quarter, Bearden defeated Lenoir City thanks to a Tyler Cooper fumble recovery in the end zone that gave the Bulldogs a touchdown and a 7-3 win.

The fifth and final quarter game was West against Campbell County. The host team rebels beat the cougars, 10-7.

In Blount County, Maryville and Alcoa started the night off with the Tornadoes winning 7-0.

In the second game, Alcoa made it two in a row with a 14-0 win against Greenback.

The final game of the Blount County jamboree saw William Blount beat Heritage, 18-6.
