Flames take over storage building, residents exit home safely as fire spreads to home

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A fire reported at a Knoxville storage building spread to a home early Friday morning. The occupants inside of the home were able to get out safely, firefighters said.

Around 2 a.m., the crews were called to 205 North Laurel Circle, near Merchants Drive, for a report of a fire.

When firefighters arrived, they found a small storage building full of furniture, engulfed in flames.

The radiant heat from the flames caused the rear of the house to also catch on fire, firefighters said.

The two adults and three children living in the home, were able to leave without harm.

As firefighters were wrapping up, crews noticed flames coming from a neighbors garage at 207 North Laurel Circe.

Arson investigators were called the scene, but the cause has not been determined.

The American Red Cross will assist the family with temporary placement.
