SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WATE) – A woman was killed and four others were injured after a single vehicle wreck near Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office said Mary Jane Reeves, 50, of Tennessee was killed Saturday night on Interstate 26 West in Enoree, South Carolina. The coroner’s office said Mary Jane Reeves was a passenger in the vehicle. During the wreck she was thrown into the median. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Four others were taken to the hospital after the accident, according to WSPA. Friends of the Reeves said Mary Jane Reeves’ husband, Russell Reeves, was also injured in the accident. They said Reeves has worked at Golden Age Retirement Village in East Knoxville for years and is a beloved member of the staff.
“Everyone here at Golden Age was shocked and saddened to hear the news,” said Sandra Croxdaale on Mary Jane Reeves obituary. “We all love you and are praying for you and your family. You know I think you are a wonderful guy, and am devastated to hear of your wife’s passing. Peace and love to you and your family.” Friends of the Reeves said their grandchildren may have also been in the car.
Bridges Funeral Home said the family will receive friends from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will follow. Mary Jane Reeves’ will be buried at Indian Ridge Cemetery in Blaine at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office said they are investigating the incident with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
