2 Grainger County inmates arrested weeks after walking away from work detail

RUTLEDGE (WATE) – Grainger County Law Enforcement arrested two men who walked away from work detail on July 30.

Randy Dalton, 37, and Adam Garland, 35, were taken into custody on Friday evening without incident.

They were captured in a field in Thorn Hill near the Hancock County line, according to deputies.

Dalton and Garland face escape and theft charges over $1,000.

RUTLEDGE (WATE) – Two Grainger County inmates walked away from a work detail in Rutledge Thursday afternoon, apparently stealing a Grainger County School System maintenance truck in the process.

Randy Dalton, 37, and Adam Garland, 35, were each being held on aggravated burglary and theft charges. Both had been assigned to a work detail for several days. Neither is considered to be dangerous.

The truck is described as an orange 1987 GMC pickup trick with tag number GP-6211.
