Gov. Haslam wants to discuss transportation funding as gas tax hike considered

A letter to lawmakers from Gov. Bill Haslam says the state health department is now requiring doctors who perform abortions to document how the fetal is disposed of.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Governor Bill Haslam says he’s launching a 15-stop tour of Tennessee to discuss transportation funding challenges as he considers hiking the gas tax.

The state’s gas tax has not been raised in 25 years.

Governor Haslam says there’s a “multi-billion dollar backlog” of highway projects across the state.

The tour begins August 5 in Memphis at the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce and some of the stops include Nashville, Franklin, Murfreesboro, and Clarksville.
