SEVIERVILLE (WATE) – No injures are reported after a cabin caught fire in Sevierville Monday night. Officials are investigating if weather was the cause.
The fire was reported around 7:00 p.m. at Grandview Resort.
Lightning was reported in the area at the time, but officials have not said if that was the cause of the fire. The cabin burned to the ground.
WATE 6 On Your Side talked to the family who was staying in the cabin.
Fifteen people from Pennsylvania were staying there, including six children.
They were out to dinner at the time and returned to find it in flames.
A neighbor told them he saw lightning strike, then saw smoke, and by the time he got over to the cabin it was burning.
The family says they arrived Saturday and were planning to stay one week, but will likely head back to Pennsylvania tomorrow.
The family was given hotel rooms after the fire.
They all say they feel lucky none of them were inside when it happened.
