GREENBACK (WATE) – Just weeks before the start of the high school football season, Greenback is looking for a new coach.

A school spokesperson confirms Dustin Lyles has stepped down as the Cherokees’ head coach before even coaching a single game. Lyles was promoted to the head coaching position from assistant coach in March when Jason Hicks resigned.

The spokesperson says Lyles cited family reasons for his sudden resignation. The school plans to hold a meeting for players and parents Thursday evening where they hope to announce an interim head coach.
