Pedestrian hit by car in northeast Knox County, driver arrested

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A pedestrian was sent to the hospital after being hit by a car in northeast Knox County Friday afternoon. The driver was arrested and is facing charges.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says James Rhines, 23, was going westbound on Millertown Pike around 2 p.m. in a 1988 black Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck when he came around a curve and hit Timothy Headrick, 47 of White Pine, as he was crossing the road.

Headrick was knocked into a ditch and taken to UT Medical Center by Rural/Metro.

Rhines is charged with no proof of insurance and driving on a revoked license for a 2014 DUI.
