New Karns recycling, waste facility opens Wednesday

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knox County is opening a new recycling and waste facility in the Karns community on Wednesday.

The new Karns Convenience Center is located at 6930 Karns Crossing Lane. Residents can drop off recyclable materials and household trash. The center opens on Wednesday, June 24 at 8 a.m. The first 200 people to use the center will receive a free recycling bin.

Officials say the new convenience center was needed because the old one was very small and often caused traffic backups along a busy stretch of Oak Ridge Highway. The new center moves traffic away from the highway to a larger, safer and more efficiently designed center.
