KNOXVILLE (WATE) – “Instead of sand castles, we make sand Neylands,” is the caption of a photo that grabbed the attention of many Vols on social media.

The photo was posted on Twitter Wednesday night.Ā Since then, it’s been retweeted over 200 times.

ItĀ grabbed the attention of local news affiliates, sports sites like ESPN, and even the University of Tennessee’s football team. They re-posted the photo on their Instagram page.Ā

The person behind this viral photo is Spencer Thompson of West Tennessee.

While on vacation at Panama City in Florida, he wanted to do something different.

“My family and I are lifelong Vol fans,” he said. “Why not build something a little more special to all of us.”

That’s exactly what he did.

It took more than 10 hours to complete the sand replica of the university’s iconic Neyland Stadium. Thompson estimates “sand Neyland” Ā to be six feet wide and about two feet tall.

The field of the stadium is made of painted wood.

ThompsonĀ told WATE 6 On Your Side he will study pre-medicine next year at the University of Tennessee.
